SYNOPSIS

I was dead. Until I wasn't.

Believed to have been killed in combat, I returned to a life that had moved on without me. The woman I had loved had found solace in the arms of another—my own brother.

Betrayed and shattered, I closed my heart to the possibility of love. A fractured soul like mine didn't deserve a second chance. Nightmares tormented my every moment, making love seem like an impossible dream.

Until her.

She ignited a spark within me that I had long thought extinguished, buried beneath the weight of my past. When I'm with her, the darkness that once consumed me disappears. And for the first time since coming home, I want something more.

Can this fiery woman prove that life is worth living, or will I forever remain trapped in the shadows that haunt my soul?

Even in the darkness... I found something worth living for.

Second Chance After Trauma

If you read The Glass Heart first, this story has a lot more weight. Alex, a SEAL veteran, having been a prisoner of war for two years, comes home to find his wife engaged to her high school sweetheart, his brother. Devastated, feeling betrayed and very, very angry with the world and everybody else. What a terrible situation by no fault of anybody. Enters Scarlett and an unexpected second chance at love. If he is courageous enough to take it.
I liked this story more than The Glass Heart, the characters were more believable and charismatic. The emotional turmoil and bouncing around made sense and was descripted in a very realistic way.
